Sousse : Dismantling of a drug trafficking network, 37,000 ecstasy tablets seized

The Ministry of the Interior today dismantled a drug trafficking network in schools and seized 37,000 ecstasy tablets, 17 cannabis plaques and 20 Parkisol tablets.

A sum of money of 67,850 dinars was also seized in this operation which led to the arrest of two individuals.

On September 3, 2024, the Tunisian General Administration of Customs announced the seizure of 6.575 kilograms of cocaine at Tunis-Carthage airport.

As part of the fight against drug smuggling, customs officers at the airport border office intercepted an attempt to traffic a large quantity of cocaine, hidden in the belongings of a foreign passenger coming from a foreign country.

During a thorough search of her luggage, customs officers discovered plates of white substance, suspected to be cocaine, hidden inside 12 pairs of sandals. In addition, an additional quantity of the same substance was found in two plastic bags hidden in a specially designed compartment in one of the passenger's suitcases.

The total weight of the seized drugs was 6.575 kilograms. A seizure report was drawn up, and after consultation with the public prosecutor's office, the case was transferred to the competent security services for further investigation.

The public prosecutor ordered this Monday the detention of two people: a woman from South Africa and a Tunisian, representative of a private clinic, and transferred them to a specialized unit after the seizure of a quantity of cocaine from the passenger upon her arrival at the airport.

The units of the border police directorate at Tunis-Carthage airport managed to intercept the passenger mentioned upon her arrival from an Arab country, with more than 6.5 kg of cocaine ingeniously hidden in the soles of 12 pairs of shoes and in the lining of her suitcase.
 

La Goulette Port : 14 cannabis plaques seized by customs​

The General Directorate of National Security indicated that the customs services at the port of La Goulette managed, yesterday Thursday, September 5, to seize 14 cannabis plaques weighing nearly 1,400 grams.

The seized quantity was concealed in the luggage of a Tunisian traveller coming from Marseille, as specified by the same source.

The security units of the National Security District in Moknine were able, during a major security campaign in coordination with the Monastir Prosecutor's Office, to seize a significant quantity of narcotics inside the home of a drug trafficker, located in one of the agricultural estates in the region.

According to a report published by the General Administration of National Security, 9 cannabis plaques were seized, 3 bags containing cocaine, in addition to an electronic scale, a plaque and the suspect's national identity card containing remains of narcotic substances, two mobile phones and a bottle of paralyzing gas.

The General Administration of National Security indicated that efforts are being made to arrest all members of the network.
 
Three individuals arrested in Ksar Hellal for possession and trafficking of drugs

The national security teams in Ksar Hellal, in the Monastir region, carried out a successful operation as part of the fight against drug trafficking. According to a statement from the General Administration of National Security, three people were arrested for possession, consumption and trafficking of narcotics, including cannabis.

Under the orders of the public prosecutor at the Monastir Court of First Instance, the three suspects were placed in detention. During this intervention, the police seized 43 pieces of cannabis, an undisclosed sum of money and two motorcycles used for their illicit activities.

This operation demonstrates the continued efforts and effectiveness of our security teams in combating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety of citizens.
 

Tataouine : Seizure of more than 300,000 Pregabline 300 mg tablets​

A customs patrol in Tataouine seized 367,500 tablets of Pregabalin 300 mg, a controlled substance often misused as a drug, hidden inside a 4×4 vehicle with Tunisian registration, early Thursday morning,” the General Directorate of Customs reported in a statement.

The value of the seized drugs is estimated at around 7.5 million dinars, according to the same source.

A report was filed, and the case has been directed to the public prosecutor for further inquiry.

 
Tunisia – Sfax : Dismantling of a drug trafficking network

Following the intensification of the investigation work, information was obtained indicating that two individuals intend to move to one of the interior governorates in order to bring a shipment of narcotic substances to promote them to students and pupils wishing to consume them in the Sfax Region.

The executives and agents of the Sfax Regional Anti-Narcotics Brigade within the Sub-Directorate for the Fight against Narcotics of the Gorjani Judicial Police Directorate carried out an elaborate ambush that resulted in the arrest of two people on a motorcycle and the seizure of 5 slabs of cannabis (Zatla) and a machete.

By presenting their identity documents to the automatic system, it was revealed that they were both subject to control, since the first had 2 wanted notices for “drug promotion and violent assault”, while the second had 7 wanted notices for “drug use, aggravated violence, assault, drunkenness and theft.

After consulting the public prosecutor at the Sfax 2 Court of First Instance, its representative authorized the detention of the suspects and associated 4 parties involved in the case in the search for “possession, transportation, return, delivery and distribution of a narcotic product listed in Annex B with the intention of trafficking in circumstances other than those authorized by law” and “carrying a bladed weapon without a license”.

The public prosecutor also authorized the Sfax 2 Court of First Instance to continue the searches.

 

Sousse : arrest of 4 individuals for drug trafficking, 40 Ecstasy tablets seized​

The public prosecutor of Sousse 1 ordered the arrest of 4 people for “possession of narcotic substances to sell them”.

According to the Directorate General for National Security, this follows their detention by the security units of South Sousse.

A meticulous excavation of the vehicle made it possible to find 40 ECSTASY tablets as well as a sum of around 2150 dinars, which were seized for the needs of the investogation.

The El Menzah police officers were able, in coordination with the national security posts of the cities of Al-Khadra and El Manar, to dismantle one of the most dangerous international drug trafficking networks between Libya, Tunisia and Algeria, following the seizure of more than forty thousand narcotic pills, firearms and large sabers, and the arrest of three members of the network, including two Algerians and a Tunisian.

The available data indicate that information was received by agents of the national security district in El Menzeh indicating that a young man was suspected of being involved in the transport and promotion of “Erica” type narcotic pills after having smuggled them from Libya.

Thanks to the intensification of investigations and intelligence work, on the ground, it was possible to determine the different routes of transport of the quantities of narcotic pills and the places where they were hidden. It was found that the Tunisian suspect, after receiving the quantities of pills, repackaged them and loaded them into a luxury car, placing on his windshield a badge fabricated from scratch for the legal profession in order to facilitate his passage on the different roads leading to the border areas close to Algerian territory. According to the same data, and thanks to a joint security effort between the El Menzah judicial police brigade and the national security posts of the El Khadra and El Manar neighborhoods, it was possible to set up elaborate ambushes on three of the network's members, a Tunisian and two Algerians, and, approximately 42,000 "Erica" narcotics tablets, as well as a number of rifles, five large swords and three cars were seized, as well as large sums of money from the promotion of narcotics pills.

The search continues to uncover the remaining elements of the dangerous international network, while waiting for all parties to be brought to the attention of justice.

 
Metlaoui : Arrest of an individual for drug trafficking and seizure of 25 cannabis tablets

As part of the fight against drug trafficking concerning the involvement of an individual in drug trafficking, a joint security team was formed.

After coordinating with the public prosecutor's office, the security units went to the home of the suspected person. Following a thorough search, they seized 25 packages containing a brown substance suspected of being cannabis, as well as 52 tablets of various drugs.

After informing the Gafsa public prosecutor's office of the details of the case, the latter ordered the suspect's custody for possession, consumption and trafficking of prohibited substances.

As part of its security patrols in front of educational institutions, the National Public Road Security Division in Ben Guerdane was able to arrest two people and place two other members in search after they fled.

This happened after receiving information about the presence of a car traveling between Al-Muammarat high school and the hospital college. The teams of the Moknine police brigade have demonstrated their effectiveness in the fight against drug trafficking. Following careful investigations and close coordination with the Monastir public prosecutor's office, the security officers managed to get their hands on an individual suspected of "possession of narcotic substances for the purpose of their distribution".

After obtaining the necessary authorizations, the security forces carried out a search operation at the suspect's home. This intervention was successful thanks to their professionalism and keen sense of observation. Indeed, the teams discovered 345 grams of a white powder, suspected of being a narcotic substance, carefully hidden inside an electric meter.

This seizure demonstrates the vigilance and efficiency of the region’s security units, determined to eradicate drug trafficking and put an end to illegal activities that threaten public safety. A joint team between the intelligence units of the National Guard district in Mohammedia (Ben Arous governorate), and the central and regional counterterrorism and intelligence units, was able to apprehend a person involved in drug-related cases.

After obtaining the necessary judicial authorizations, the suspect's home was searched and approximately 400 narcotics tablets were seized.
 

Arrest in Moknine: seizure of cannabis and cocaine​

The security forces of the Moknine region, in the governorate of Monastir, carried out a vital operation to fight drug trafficking. Under the order of the public prosecutor of Monastir, a team composed of the judicial police brigade, intelligence services of the National Security Zone of Moknine, as well as agents of the rescue police and a unit of maintenance of The regional order went to the home of the main suspect.

During this intervention, the police found a young woman there, who attempted to escape before being arrested. After a meticulous excavation of the home, the authorities got their hands on five cannabis plates as well as an amount of about 80 grams of cocaine.

Following this seizure, Monastir’s public prosecutor ordered the young woman’s detention. Four other people related to this drug trafficking network have been registered on the list of people wanted and are currently the subject of a wanted notice.

This operation is part of the continuous efforts of the national police to combat drug trafficking and strengthen public security.

Tunisia – Monastir : Arrest of two students who were smoking Zatla near their college

A Monastir Rapid Intervention Security Patrol was able to arrest a 16-year-old girl, accompanied by a 17-year-old young man, in an isolated location near a college in the city of Monastir.

The official spokesperson for the Monastir and Mahdia courts, Farid Ben Jha, told the media that a cigarette filled with the drug “Zatla” and two pieces of the same drug were found in the student’s possession.

Following the investigation by the judicial police brigade, the aforementioned girl stated that she intended to consume narcotic substances with her friend, who admitted to having bought the drug from one of the dealers.

Ben Jha, reported that after investigation by the prosecution, a search was carried out at the dealer’s home and narcotic material based on cannabis was seized. As a result, a complaint was filed at the police station for consumption and trafficking of a narcotic substance listed in Schedule B, and the three individuals were kept in detention for investigation.
 
Tunisia : Sousse ; Arrest of two individuals for pickpocketing and drug trafficking

The security units affiliated with the Sousse Medina National Security Station and the Sousse Medina Judicial Police Brigade, reinforced by various patrols operating in the region, were able, after conducting a series of field and technical investigations, to arrest the perpetrator of a pickpocketing of a foreigner accompanied by a second person and confiscated 71 narcotics tablets, a sharp instrument and 3 mobile phones of unknown origin.

By taking them to the headquarters of the security unit and presenting their identity documents to the automatic system, it was found that the main suspect was the subject of 4 wanted notices.

After review, the prosecution authorized the detention of the main perpetrator for "pickpocketing" and his companion for "possession, consumption and distribution of narcotic substances, possession of a knife without a license and possession of objects of unknown origin." The investigation is still ongoing.
