Customs services at the port of La Goulette have managed to seize, since the start of the year, a significant quantity of 237 kg of cannabis hidden inside passenger vehicles, coming from the port of Genoa (Italy) and the port of Marseille.

Among the main cannabis seizure operations, the seizure in March of 176 kg of cannabis concealed on board a truck with a foreign registration coming from the Port of Marseille.

Tunisia – Sousse : Arrest of a cocaine dealer

Following the provision of security units affiliated with the Rescue Service of the Sub-Directorate of Public Roads and Support of the National Security Region in Sousse and the National Security post of Bouhsina reporting the involvement of people involved in drug trafficking among youth circles in the region, the issue was given the necessary importance.

After a series of investigations, the main suspect was arrested, despite his attempt to escape. He was in possession of a quantity of cocaine and a sum of money amounting to 958 dinars.

By presenting his identity to the automated system, it was revealed that he had been the subject of 4 wanted notices, for the illegal sale of alcohol, embezzlement of a minor and harming the property of others.

After coordination with the public prosecutor, his home was searched, where a sum of money amounting to 8,420 dinars, and 300 euros, as well as two air pumps were seized.

The Sousse prosecutor's office authorized the detention of the accused for "possession for the purpose of consuming and promoting a narcotic substance".

After information became available regarding the involvement of a person subject to 8 wanted notices, in drug trafficking among youth circles in the West Kram region, security units were able to arrest the suspect, despite his attempt to resist security officers with a sharp instrument and protect himself by fleeing with the help of other people, who were also arrested.

During the suspect's search, he was found in possession of 17 pieces of cannabis, 15 narcotics tablets and a sum of money amounting to 105 dinars, from the proceeds of the promotion.

In coordination with the Public Prosecutor's Office, a search was carried out at the suspect's home, where another person was arrested in possession of 23 narcotics pills, in addition to seizing an electronic scale and bladed weapons.

Tunisia – Ettadhamen : Arrest of six individuals and dismantling of drug trafficking network​

The units of the Ettadhamen district of the National Guard in the Ariana governorate, in collaboration with various divisions of the General Directorate of Intervention Units in the Ariana region, successfully arrested six people belonging to a criminal network active in various districts of the capital, specializing in drug trafficking. Among them were two individuals who were the subject of multiple wanted notices issued by various security units and judicial authorities.

According to a report published by the General Directorate of the National Guard, the aforementioned units, in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, conducted searches of the residences of the six individuals. During the operation, they seized 6.5 plaques of cannabis, pieces of varying sizes of the same drug, a quantity of cocaine, narcotic tablets and capsules, a quantity of marijuana seeds, as well as a sum of money in both Tunisian and foreign currencies, and a vehicle.

After examination, the Public Prosecutor’s Office authorized the initiation of judicial measures against them.

Following the provision of precise information to the units of the Sub-Directorate for the Fight against Drugs within the Directorate of Judicial Affairs of the National Guard in Ben Arous, indicating that a group of individuals would be involved in drug trafficking in the governorates of Greater Tunis, the investigations and field work were deepened as part of a qualitative operation carried out by the aforementioned units, with the participation of various specializations of the General Directorate of Intervention Units at the central level.

After coordination with the Public Prosecutor's Office of Tunis and Ben Arous, the suspects' homes were searched and they were arrested and placed in detention. Their number is 6, including a person wanted by different security units and judicial structures.
