Yasmine Hammamet’s judicial police unit arrested an Algerian drug trafficker. The suspect illegally entered Tunisian territory and resides there.
By raiding the suspect’s home, the police were able to seize pills and drugs as well as large sums of money. This operation contributed to the arrest of 7 other individuals of Algerian and Tunisian nationality.
 

Tunisia-Grombalia: Discovery of a marijuana farm​

A security source said that officers from the Grombalia police station found on October 24, 2020, a farm where marijuana is planted, Mosaique FM reports.
The prosecution approved the arrest of the owner of the farm, a Tunisian who lived abroad. Quantities of dried marijuana were similarly seized.

Tunisia-Dismantling of a drug trafficking ring in a hotel​

Patrols under the investigation brigade accompanied by the tourist security of the national guard of Ben Arous dismantled a drug trafficking network composed of 10 people, in a hotel in the tourist area of Borj Cedria.


The Interior Ministry announced in a statement released this Tuesday, October 27, 2020, that it had seized 391 cannabis capsules and two other pieces of the same type, as well as 72 marijuana seeds. A vehicle and an amount of 140,000 dinars which would be the income from the sale of drugs were also seized.
After consulting the prosecution, the investigation unit of the national guard of Ben Arous initiated a legal case for drug trafficking, all those arrested were taken into custody.

The security inspection brigade of the border police station at Tunis Carthage airport succeeded in preventing the smuggling and seized of a large quantity of 2.5 kg cocaine and 265g cannabis in the possession of four women of sub-Saharan African nationalities, carefully hidden in sensitive areas of their bodies.

A joint patrol between the search and inspection teams of Beja, the antiterrorism unit in Gafsa and search squad under the national guard succeeded in arresting two people, seizing 23 drug capsules and a light truck.

After consultation with the Public Prosecution, the Central Anti-Narcotic Division of the National Guard in Wardiya was authorized to initiate a judicial case and keep both detainees in custody.

The customs authorities succeeded in stopping a try to bring into Tunisian territory 1,090 ecstasy tablets, stored in a parcel from one of the European countries and addressed to a Tunisian national.

A report was drawn up to this effect, and after consultation with the prosecution, relevant security services were communicated for further investigation.

Tunisia-She hids 300 grams of cocaine in her private parts​

The officers of the border police control brigade at Tunis-Carthage international airport managed to foil an attempted intrusion of a number of drugs.


The drugs were in the ownership of a passenger coming from Paris. The quantity was hidden in private places of her body.


Officers found 298 grams of cocaine during a search at the arrival checkpoint.

 

Tunisia - Raf Raf : Woman dies of drug overdose​

A woman in her thirties died from an ecstasy overdose in Raf Raf region.

The deceased accompanied a group of people who came to spend the weekend in apartments in Raf Raf where they spend the night consuming liquor and narcotic pills. The woman had a heart attack due to an overdose.

National guard units moved to the scene after being notified and the public prosecution was likewise informed. The body was moved to Habib Bougatfa for an autopsy, her companions will be investigated.

The agents of the Sijoumi judicial police brigade succeeded after an ambush, in capturing one of the most prominent and dangerous traffickers of tablets “Subutex”, nicknamed “Oueld Hamtin”. The latter is wanted by the authorities for drug trafficking cases.

Following his detention, officers were able to seize a large amount of the drug and a large amount of cash. He was indicted for further interrogation pending his referral to justice.

 

Tunisia-COLEC calls on Tunisian authorities to abolish the criminalization of cannabis​

Following the decision of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs to remove the listing of the cannabis as a risky drug and to place it on the list of substances with medicinal benefits, the Collective for the Legalization of Chanvre (COLEC) informs the public opinion of its plan.

The move follows recommendations from the World Health Organization, whose investigation has demonstrated the therapeutic benefits of cannabis. It was voted by an absolute majority of member states, including Morocco, says COLEC.

After this international, scientific and medical recognition, COLEC calls on the Tunisian government and parliament to:

1. Quickly abolish the criminalization of cannabis use, which has left 200,000 Tunisians in prison, one of the most recent grievances of the Republic of Tunisia.

2. Organize a national discussion on cannabis, with the assistance of political actors, civil society and international experts, in order to draft a working document on the legalization of cannabis in Tunisia and the legalization of its medicinal use and industrial; due to the international acceptance of the cultivation of the cannabis plant and its medical and industrial use, and in the face of the collapse of the national economy, unemployment and poverty among Tunisian youth.

Algeria: Tunisians arrested for attempted cocaine trafficking​

he dean of the investigative judges of the court of Boufarik in Algeria transferred to the judicial file of a gang active in the trafficking and importation of hard drugs into Algeria.
The international gang is composed of 5 people of Tunisian nationality, the suspects were prepared to introduce large quantities of cocaine into Algeria.
The Algerian gendarmerie had arrested them last February in possession of 1 kg of pure cocaine, they should be prosecuted at the beginning of the year.
