Eid festivities begin the next day, marking Abraham's sacrifice, an act of faith and obedience to God.

Calendar of celebrations

The month of Dhul-Hijjah is scheduled to begin on June 7, with the crescent moon sighting scheduled for the evening of June 6, according to the Umm al-Qura calendar used in Saudi Arabia.

Religious authorities in Egypt and Turkey have also confirmed this date, linking astronomical events to religious practices.

Eid holidaysThe Eid al-Adha holiday usually lasts between three and four days, starting on June 16 and continuing until June 19.

In many Muslim countries, festivities can extend for up to a full week, allowing communities to come together, share meals and visit family.

It should be remembered that the observation of the lunar crescent remains a crucial element in confirming the start of the month of Dhul-Hijjah.
