The ministry indicated that the arrest of the man in question was carried out in coordination with the services of the Ministry of the Interior, in particular the judicial police and a brigade specializing in the investigation of crimes of violence against women and the 'child.

Violence against women: Receiving more than 15,000 calls per year on the toll-free number

In a statement published on its official page, the Ministry of Women, Family and the Elderly said that more than 15,000 calls were received per year on the toll-free number 1899 dedicated to notifications on violence against women .

The ministry added that 75.5% of calls received concern cases of domestic violence, specifying that this points to the many problems suffered by Tunisian families.

He thus made it known that these problems have a direct influence on the fundamental rights of women and the balance of children.
