Video of the day: The suffering of female farm workers continues ...

By D. | 12 minutes ago Nov 28, 2021

Unbenannt.JPGcm.JPG

Filmed between Borj Toumi and El Batan under the governorate of Manouba, the video of the day shows agricultural workers piled up and stuck to each other in a truck.

A scene, to say the least, scandalous which is repeated every day in most of the rural areas where women have been killed as a result of road accidents to or from the workplace.

Dozens of tragedies have taken place due to the inability of the Ministry for Women to regularize the situation of female agricultural workers as well as the poor working conditions.

This video footage exposed the precarious situation of these women who leave their families very early in the morning to work in agricultural land in full sun or in the cold to barely earn 10 to 15 dinars per day.

Deprived of their simple rights such as social security, secure transportation or a sum of money that can guarantee their families a life of dignity, these forgotten women can neither complain nor utter a single word. Otherwise, the ghost of unemployment and poverty will threaten them.

These survivors have suffered in silence every day as Tunisia celebrates 16 Days Against Violence Against Women. Strange paradox!
