With the tourist season approaching, Jamel Sghir, a member of the local council of the Manzel Tamim municipality in Nabeul, raised a red flag over the deteriorating environmental situation in the area.

In a statement to Tunisia Numerique, he highlighted that sand from the beach has swept across the coastal roads, which has become an obstacle for both traffic and pedestrians.

He also pointed out that the situation worsened due to the accumulation of waste that has spread across the city, negatively affecting its appearance and causing dissatisfaction among local residents. This problem, he noted, has become even more concerning with the peak tourist season fast approaching.

Sghir called for urgent intervention from local and regional authorities, as well as from the Coastal Protection and Development Agency, to address this issue and preserve the city’s image, ensuring the best possible conditions to welcome visitors during the tourist season.
