Beja : A man dies in a tragic accident

A fatal accident occurred on the evening of Thursday, February 20, 2025 on national road No. 6, at the Ksar Echeikh crossroads.

The tragedy was caused by the skidding of a vehicle that ended up below after overturning.

When help arrived, the victim was already dead and remained trapped inside the car.

Civil protection teams intervened to extract the body, according to the correspondent of Tunisie Numérique.

A traffic accident occurred yesterday evening, Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the crossroads of the ring road-Jelma in the governorate of Sidi Bouzid, resulting in the death of three people, including a businessman from the delegation of Feriana in the governorate of Kasserine, in addition to the injury of another passenger who was transferred to receive first aid at the local hospital in Jelma.

The accident consisted of a head-on collision between a Mercedes and a D-Max van.
 

Tunisia – Djerba : A school bus catches fire!​

A fire broke out on Monday morning, around 6:00 am, in a double school bus, belonging to the regional transport company of Medenine, which was preparing to depart the Djerba Houmt Souk land transport station, according to the official spokesperson of the company, Chokri Al-Jaziri.

He specified in a statement to the Tunis Afrique Presse Agency (TAP) that no human damage was registered due to the absence of passengers, and no damage was recorded on the buses parked nearby thanks to the rapid intervention of the company’s workers who quickly removed them, and thanks to the intervention of civil protection agents to extinguish the partial fire on the bus.

He estimated that the partial fire of the bus was due to a technical failure of the engine while waiting to determine the exact causes. He emphasised that the fleet is old and operates every day of the week, it is subject to continuous and intensive maintenance operations regularly. He added that beginning this year, a program will be enforced to renew the fleet.

It is noteworthy that the company’s fleet was reinforced at the beginning of this year with 5 new regular urban transport buses, part of the first batch as part of the company’s strategy to increase the readiness of its fleet, improve supply and ensure its travel in the best conditions of safety and quality.

 
Tunisia – Collision between the Metro and a light car

A collision occurred this afternoon between a light metro and a private car near the “Palestine” metro station, on Mohammed V Avenue.

The accident occurred around 5 p.m. and did not cause any human casualties, but caused damage to the vehicle. According to eyewitnesses, the accident was caused by the inattention of the driver of the car, while crossing the railway track, which led him to collide with the metro coming from the République “Le Passage” station towards Ariana.

The accident caused a partial disruption of traffic in the area, before the competent authorities intervened to direct traffic and resume transport normally.

A violent and direct collision that occurred today, Saturday, between a light truck and a heavy goods vehicle left two dead on the spot, in addition to two injured passengers, on national road No. 13 connecting the governorates of Sfax and Kasserine, more precisely at the entrance to the “Al-Hawamid” area east of Sidi Bouzid.

Civil protection units intervened on the scene and transferred the two injured to the regional hospital of Sidi Bouzid to receive first aid and care, and to remove the two trucks from the public road to allow road users to pass.

A terrible traffic accident occurred in the Sidi Issa area in the delegation of Takelsa, affiliated to the governorate of Nabeul, yesterday evening, Tuesday, March 4, 2025, before breaking the fast.

The accident consisted of the skidding of a large motorcycle, resulting in cardiorespiratory arrest and fractures to the limbs for the driver, a 20-year-old man, while his partner, a 19-year-old girl, suffered a pelvic injury.

The body of the deceased was transported to the forensic medicine department and the girl was treated.

 

Jendouba : Two Injured in a Road Accident in Aïn Drahem​

On Thursday, March 6, 2025, a road accident happened on National Road No. 17, involving two light vehicles.

Civil Protection teams quickly arrived at the scene, providing aid and transporting two injured individuals to the local hospital in Aïn Drahem for necessary medical care. They also cleared the accident site to restore traffic flow in both directions.

Following the incident, the Regional Civil Protection Directorate of Jendouba urged road users to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations, particularly due to changing weather conditions that could impact road safety.

 
Tunisia – Since the beginning of Ramadan… Motorcycles are the cause of a majority of accidents

Brigadier General Chamseddine Al-Adwani, head of the coordination and communication office at the National Road Safety Observatory, revealed that the number of traffic accidents recorded due to motorcycles since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan has reached 24 accidents, resulting in 7 deaths, while light car accidents have resulted in 8 deaths, describing these figures as dangerous.

He called on motorists to avoid getting upset, wear seat belts and reduce speed. He also called on motorcycle users to wear helmets, which reduces serious injuries by 88.9%.

Al-Adwani added that the observatory is currently working on developing an action plan for the national communication strategy for road safety in Tunisia, which aims to address the main causes of traffic accidents in Tunisia based on available statistics, in order to reduce the number of accidents by 10% in the short term, by 25% in the medium term, by 2037, and by 50% in the long term, by 2034.

Light vehicles are the first involved in traffic accidents, with a percentage of 59.6%, or 3,340 accidents, 576 deaths and 4,704 injuries, while motorcycles occupy the second place with 45.8%, or 2,562 accidents, 460 deaths and 2,961 injuries.

Pedestrians are the third most common person involved in traffic accidents, with 32.8% of all accidents, 1,839 deaths and 1,836 injuries, followed by light trucks, with 23.6%, 1,320 accidents, 379 deaths and 1,982 injuries.

A traffic accident occurred this morning, leaving two dead and two injured on local road No. 899 connecting the delegation of Senad and the locality of Al-Qawsa in the governorate of Gafsa. The accident was caused by a collision between two light trucks.

According to the statement of the regional director of civil protection, Brigadier General Mabrouk Al-Safi, an immediate intervention was carried out and the victims and one of the injured were transferred to the local hospital in Senad, in coordination with the National Guard unit.
 

Kasserine : Fatal Traffic Accident​

The rescue teams from the Civil Protection Department in Kasserine responded to a traffic accident on National Road 17, near Industrial Area 2 in the northern part of Kasserine.

The accident involved a car overturning, resulting in severe injuries to a 50-year-old man who sustained serious head and facial injuries, along with bruises across his body. He was provided with first aid and moved to the regional hospital, where he later died.

In a tragic incident that shook the Zanoush delegation of the Gafsa Governorate, specifically the Al-Jadida region, a two-year-old girl died after her father accidentally ran her over with his car. The accident happened today, Tuesday when the father was attempting to park his car, but the girl was near the car without him noticing her.

The girl, who had a life full of innocence and joy, passed away instantly as a result of the accident that left a deep impact on the hearts of her father and her family.

Neighbours and members of the local community voiced their shock and deep sadness over this tragedy, indicating that these accidents open the door to raising awareness of the importance of caution while driving in crowded places and residential areas.

Tunisia – Eleven female agricultural workers injured in a road accident

The regional health director in Kasserine, Abdelghani Chaabani, confirmed that 11 women and one man working in the agricultural sector were injured in a road accident in the Sbeitla district of Kasserine governorate today, Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

Chaabani noted that two ambulances and civil protection units responded to transport the injured for treatment at the local hospital in Sbeitla.Health units transferred four injured people, after initial diagnosis at Sbeitla hospital, to the Kasserine regional hospital for further treatment.

They were found to have fractures of varying severity, according to the regional health director in Kasserine, who confirmed that one of the injuries is considered critical.

Road accidents : 44 dead and 192 injured during the first half of Ramadan​

According to figures from the National Road Safety Observatory (ONSR), the 134 road accidents registered during the first half of Ramadan 2025 (March 1-15) resulted in 44 deaths and 192 injuries.

Since the start of the current year as of March 16, the ONSR recorded a total of 840 accidents, a decrease of (-30.58%) compared to the same period last year, resulting in 215 deaths and 1,116 injuries on our roads.

 

Tunisia – Aïn Jalloula : Protesters block road between Kairouan and Siliana​

Residents of Ain Jalloula, in the Hafouz district of Kairouan, blocked the road linking the Kairouan and Siliana governorates in the Tfifila area on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

The demonstration followed the death of a motorcyclist who was hit by a National Guard vehicle on Monday afternoon. The victim succumbed to injuries later that evening at the Aghalba health unit.

In response, the General Administration of the National Guard announced a judicial inquiry by the traffic accident brigade, under the supervision of the public prosecutor. Legal action has been taken against the head of the Ain Jalloula National Guard post and his companion. Additionally, an administrative inquiry has been launched to determine the circumstances of the accident and assign responsibility.

The accident involved a collision between a car and a rental taxi, with a total of 11 passengers aboard both vehicles.

Civil protection teams responded to the scene and transported seven injured people to Béja Regional Hospital for necessary treatment, a civil protection source told Tunisie Numérique's correspondent in the region.

Mahmoud Benani, regional delegate of the Tunisian Association for Road Accident Prevention – Kasserine regional office, stated that 50 road accidents were recorded during the first three months of the year, up to March 18, 2025.

These accidents resulted in the deaths of 9 people and injured 68, with motorcycles being the main vehicles involved.

In a statement to Tunisie Numérique's regional correspondent, Benani stated that the awareness campaigns, launched at the beginning of Ramadan, are continuing.
 

Sousse : A Collision Between Two Vehicles Leaves 14 Injured​

Rescue and emergency teams from the regional civil protection directorate in Sousse responded to a road accident on the highway at kilometre 90, heading towards Sousse, in the Enfidha delegation.

The accident, which involved a collision between two cars, left 14 individuals injured with varying degrees of severity.

The victims received first aid before being transported to the local hospital in Enfidha and Sahloul Hospital.
