According to astronomical calculations, Sunday, March 30, 2025, would be the first day of Eid al-Fitr, according to the Tunis Science City, which stressed that the Mufti’s Office under the Presidency of the Republic is the only authority authorized to announce the start of the lunar months.

Since the beginning of the month of Ramadan coincided in Muslim countries on March 1, 2025, the observation of the lunar crescent in Tunisia will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2025, corresponding to the 29th of Ramadan 1456, when the sun will set at 6:40 p.m. and the moon will set at 6:57 p.m., making it impossible to observe the moon either by telescope or with the naked eye. Given the impossibility of observing the moon on that day, March 30 would be the last day of Ramadan and Monday, March 31, would be the first day of Eid al-Fitr.

According to astronomical calculations alone, the conjunction before sunset and the moon setting 17 minutes after sunset, Sunday, March 30th, would be the first day of Shwall 1446 and the first day of Eid al-Fitr.

Saudi Arabia Announces New Measures to Regulate Tunisian Pilgrims’ Entry to Mecca for Hajj 2025

By R
| 14 avril 2025

1744616949389.png

As the Hajj season 2025 approaches, the Saudi Ministry of Interior reported on Saturday, April 12, 2025, a series of strict security and regulatory measures to control and secure entry into the holy city of Mecca. The announcement, made through the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA), applies to Saudi citizens, residents, and foreign pilgrims, including Tunisians planning to perform the Hajj.

No Entry into Mecca Without Hajj Visa Beginning April 29
As of Tuesday, 1 Dhu al-Qi’dah 1446 AH (April 29, 2025), entry and residence in Mecca will be strictly limited to those holding an official Hajj visa.
This includes a ban on all types of visas, such as tourist, business, or other visit visas — during the critical period, to reserve entry exclusively for authorized pilgrims.

Specific Hajj Entry and Exit Dates
The Saudi authorities have defined the following deadlines for pilgrim movement:
  • Last date for pilgrims to enter Mecca:
    Sunday, 15 Shawwal 1446 AH (April 13, 2025)
Final date for departure (for non-Hajj permit holders):
  • Tuesday, 1 Dhu al-Qi’dah 1446 AH (April 29, 2025)
Anyone who violates these dates — by entering or remaining in Mecca without proper authorization — will face legal and administrative penalties.

Special Entry Permit Required for Residents Starting April 23
Starting Wednesday, 25 Shawwal 1446 AH (April 23, 2025), residents of Saudi Arabia must obtain a special entry permit to access Mecca.
This permit can only be obtained via the digital platforms “Absher” and “Muqeem”, and is limited to the following groups:
  • Residents whose residence card is officially registered in Mecca.
  • Workers assigned to religious sites or facilities.
  • Holders of a valid Hajj visa.
  • All others will be required to leave Mecca immediately if they do not meet these criteria.
Temporary Suspension of Umrah Permits via Nusuk
Starting April 29, 2025, the digital “Nusuk” platform will temporarily suspend the issuance of Umrah permits until Monday, 14 Dhu al-Hijjah 1446 AH (June 10, 2025).
This suspension applies to:
  • Saudi citizens
  • Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens
  • Residents of Saudi Arabia
  • Visitors with other types of visas
Strict Enforcement and Legal Consequences
The Saudi Ministry of Interior stressed that any violation of these new regulations will be met with strict legal consequences.
All citizens, residents, and foreign visitors — including Tunisian pilgrims — are urged to comply fully with these updated protocols. Only those with valid Hajj permits will be allowed entry into Mecca during this period.

Aiming for a Smooth and Safe Hajj Season
These measures are part of a comprehensive plan to ensure security, order, and efficient crowd management during what is considered the largest religious gathering in the world.
The Minister of Interior underlined that these steps are vital for ensuring pilgrims can perform their rituals peacefully and safely.

Saudi authorities are preparing to receive millions of pilgrims during the 2025 season and are taking extensive precautions to prevent congestion, maintain security, and uphold the Kingdom’s role as the guardian of Islam’s holiest sites.
