The German Parliament has approved military acquisitions worth €50 billion.

In recent years, Germany has been among the leading customers of the U.S. defense industry, having approved contracts exceeding $17 billion between 2020 and 2024, including a record $13.9 billion in 2023 following Russia’s military operations in Ukraine.

However, Berlin now appears to be shifting toward prioritizing European companies, even as data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) show that European NATO countries imported 64% of their weapons from the United States between 2020 and 2024—a situation Donald Trump is keen to see continue.

"Mahlzeit" literally means "mealtime" and as a greeting, especially at lunchtime among colleagues, it is equivalent to "Enjoy your meal" :)
