Then Washington quietly removed a 50 percent tariff on Canadian toilet paper, along with relief on cement and salt.

Canada is the top foreign supplier of toilet paper to the United States, with about $328 million in exports in 2024.

Canada Today
Canada Today

Industry Minister Mélanie Joly says Prime Minister Mark Carney’s investment summit is how Canada builds strength at home and reduces reliance on the United States.

More than 160 projects — ports, rail, pipelines, energy, mining — are being put in front of global funds, with public reporting pointing to as much as $1 trillion in targeted capital.

Joly said Canadian exports going to the United States have already fallen from 75 percent to 66 percent.

Trump RUNS as Canada goes for the NUCLEAR OPTION…

15.09.2026 Legal AF Podcast

Is Canada, increasingly isolated by Trump, considering hitting the doomsday button for the US and cutting off the US’ nickel supply and considering building nuclear weapons as a deterrent against Trump’s aggression?

Popok sees the nickel supply — integral to America’s aerospace, car manufacturing, batteries, superalloys and stainless steel — as the choke point Canada can use to bring Trump to his knees, and the possibility of Canada becoming the next nuclear super power a very real possibility.

At Canada’s investment summit, Prime Minister Mark Carney told global investors the old model of deep integration is no longer safe.

Economic integration has been weaponized. Tariffs are used as leverage.

Canada’s answer is to build at home, diversify abroad, and become master in its own house.

He said a country that cannot feed, fuel, or defend itself is not truly sovereign. (y)

Sorry Sen. Murray, Canadians Don’t Owe America a Rescue Mission (y)

19.09.2026

Senator Patty Murray recently posted a video from Bellingham, Washington talking about the decline in Canadian tourism and what it is doing to local businesses.

Businesses are struggling. Staff are being laid off. Hours are being reduced. Some businesses have closed. And once again Canadians are being asked to come back across the border and spend our money.

But I think they are talking to the wrong people.

Canadians already understand that the US Tourism Decline is hurting communities that relied heavily on Canadian visitors. We understand what is happening to places like Bellingham.
What many of us do not appreciate is being made to feel guilty for choosing to travel elsewhere and spend our money in Canada.

This is bigger than tourism and Travel. The US Canada Trade War damaged a relationship that Canadians once took for granted, and that relationship is not repaired by showing us struggling businesses and asking us to come back.

n this video I react to Senator Patty Murray's message, the Bellingham business owners featured in her video, and some of the responses Canadians left directly underneath her post.

I also explain why this message bothers me personally. I grew up going to Washington State. I shopped in Bellingham, flew out of Bellingham, ate there, golfed there and spent a lot of money there over the years.

But Canadians are allowed to decide where we travel and where we spend our money.

f the United States wants Canadian travellers back, the conversation needs to be about why Canadians stopped going in the first place, not about making Canadians feel responsible for fixing somebody else's Economy.
