has gone public with a new account of why Canada–U.S. trade talks collapsed.

He claims there was a handshake deal, that Canada walked away for domestic political reasons, that French-language protections were a manufactured issue, and that medium and heavy-duty trucks were only raised at the last minute.

Canada Controls the River That Makes 40% of America's Hydropower. The Treaty Just Expired.

The Decision Room
The Decision Room
27.08.2026

In 1948, a flood erased Vanport — Oregon's second-largest city — in a single afternoon.

The solution America found was built in Canada: three giant dams in British Columbia that hold back the Columbia River's floods and re-time its flow.

The result: 40% of all US hydropower, $8 billion in irrigated crops, 42 million tons of cargo — and three trillion gallons of guaranteed flood protection every year.

That guarantee rested on the Columbia River Treaty, ratified in 1964 and considered the most successful water agreement on Earth.

Its key provisions expired in September 2024. The deal to replace it was never ratified.

In March 2025, the Trump administration froze the negotiations — in the middle of the trade war. And on August 1, 2027, Canada's assured flood storage drops to zero.

In this video: the drowned city that started it all, how the treaty actually works, the Canadian Entitlement worth up to $300 million a year, what "called upon" storage means for Portland and Seattle, and why a water law professor says that in any fight over this river, "Canada is the winner."

IT’S NOW CALLED LAKE AMERICA 🇺🇸 | Trump’s Lake Ontario Musical Satire

Donald Trump wants to rename Lake Ontario.

Because when America has problems, sometimes the easiest solution is apparently to change the map.

IT’S NOW CALLED LAKE AMERICA is Mr. Newberger’s newest musical satire about American overcompensation, political distraction, turning on our allies, national ego, and the peculiar obsession with putting America’s name on things while ignoring considerably larger problems.

Trump takes to Lake Ontario aboard an absurdly patriotic MAGA superyacht for a triumphant voyage through the America of 2026.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford used a housing and infrastructure announcement to send a direct message in the Canada–U.S. trade war: ignore Donald Trump and keep building. Ford said the government will do whatever it takes for workers hit by the latest tariffs, pointed to Ontario’s mines, metals and energy, and said no one can stop Canada.

Charlie Angus of Meidas Canada Network argues Donald Trump badly underestimated Canada when he escalated the trade war — and predicts the confrontation could mark “the beginning of the end” for Trump and MAGA.

Angus joins Energi Media journalist Markham Hislop to discuss Canada's response, America's declining credibility with its allies, and why he believes Canadians are becoming more united in the face of U.S. pressure.

Navarro to Canada: "Your country screws us"
Ricky Gervais Lol GIF

Aug 26, 2026

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro responded to Canadian writer Jen Gerson's column in the Guardian, arguing that Canada did not seek a trade war but was willing to accept the "punishment" as a "warning to the rest of the western alliance."

"That's so self-righteous and wrong," Mr. Navarro told C-SPAN's "Washington Journal" on Wednesday. "I mean, madam, look, your country screws us … You're the problem."

When I announced that I was running in the 2024 Presidential Election, right at the beginning, Ford was getting ready to close their Big Factory, in Detroit. Then, because I was leading in the Polls, they figured they would leave it open a little longer to see what happened. Now it’s running...
